The details of this Sample Design, including all the parameters used to generate it, are included below. Sample designs must belong to a Study Plan.
Description
A 10 minute point count will be conducted at each randomly selected, paired points (as per KROME methodology). Point counts will occur 3 times between mid-May and mid-July, with a minimum of 7 days between counts. Counts will begin at least 15 minutes after sunrise and will be completed by 10 am. Weather conditions will be recorded at the beginning of the count, and should be warm and calm enough for bird detections. Any disturbance that may interfere with bird detections (trains, traffic, etc) should be recorded.
All birds seen or heard within the 10 minute period are recorded. Data will be recorded across 3 time intervals (0-3, 3-5, and 5-10 minutes), and only the 1st detection of an individual or group of birds will be recorded. Data collection in this manner is comparable to the USFWS Breeding Bird Survey, so results may be compared between studies.
At each site, in addition to bird species, a distance will be estimated to the bird(s), and an azimuth taken.

Plan Description
Point sampling locations will be paired, random locations such that 1 paired point will be located inside the restoration project and the 2nd paired point will be outside the restoration. Each pair will be selected at random, 2 at the south end of the wetland, 2 in the middle and 2 at the north end of the wetland. Thus, the spatial design is a stratified simple random sample in which every point must be sampled 3 times annually.
