IDFG collects stream temperature data from selected sites in the Clearwater River and Salmon River drainages.  Sites include most streams in which IDFG performs fish-in/fish-out monitoring of wild steelhead.  Additions streams are also sampled that span a range of elevation, geomorphic, and vegetative cover found in Idaho’s steelhead streams. Data is analyzed and available for use as environmental co-variates for steelhead effectiveness evaluations across Idaho and for general environmental status and trends monitoring.

Objective for this Protocol

1. Provide support and perform hatchery effectiveness monitoring and evaluation to adaptively manage programs across the Clearwater River and Salmon River drainages.

2. Provide support and perform status and trends monitoring of environmental conditions to inform habitat restoration or climate change.
